Puchong
Puchong is a major district within the boundaries of Selangor, a
mainly Chinese populated area. Its immediate neighbours are Bukit
Jalil and Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park. Considered to be relatively
near the city due to the excellent highway connections, Kuala Lumpur
city centre is 27 kilometres away, while Bangsar is 21 kilometres
away, Mont Kiara at 25 kilometres and Petaling Jaya the nearest at a
mere 14 kilometres.
Puchong was considered as an unattractive area in the past, but has
since changed since developers have discovered its proximity to the
city and developed the land. As such, developments of all levels has
been going on for years and property value appreciation is
astronomic. The older low cost apartments only cost RM120,000 for a
small unit, while those with bigger built ups cost RM260,000; a good
deal for the lower income group.
The high rises in Puchong targeted towards the middle income group
however cost at least RM400,000 for a decent size brand new unit
while the newer double storey terrace houses cost at least
RM600,000. Needless to say, anything that is bigger than 2,000 sf
costs a minimum of RM680,000 onwards while the bungalows are all
priced at a minimum of RM1,250,000 onwards.
As a fairly successful business hub, Puchong offers all the
necessary amenities to its residents. Schools of all nationalities
are available in this district, and all local banks are easily
accessible. General practitioner clinics are abundant and women's
specialist clinics are curiously common here. Office towers are
highly available to the point of saturation, while some might even
unkindly call it an oversupply.
The local Puchong hospitals are Columbia Asia Hospital and the KPMC
Puchong Medical Centre which promises excellent healthcare to its
patients. The shopping malls in this area are limited to IOI Mall
and Tesco, which is not a big concern as Sunway Pyramid is less than
15 minutes away via the excellent highway networks.
Puchong is an easily accessed town, albeit highly and extremely
congested during peak hours. The highways that connect to town are
the Lebuhraya Damansara - Puchong (LDP), the Shah Alam Expressway,
Federal Highway, the Puchong - Sungai Besi Highway and the New
Pantai Expressway (NPE). Public transportation in Puchong is limited
to the RapidKL busses which is fortunately abundant in its routes to
and fro the city.
